Tips for Staying Productive This Summer

Summer ’18 has finally arrived! After many long days spent in the library and the office, all I can think about is spending every moment in the sun. My mind wanders to all the trips I want to take with my friends, which concerts I should go to– pretty much anything but work.

I’ve had to make some daily changes to keep myself accountable and to keep growing my business.

Set a schedule in advance

I like to start a week out and write down everything I need to do. I fill out when I’ll be working, which takes up a good chunk of my time.

With my free time remaining, I schedule morning work outs, webinars/classes and work time during the day, and plans with friends for the evening.

Every night before I go to bed, I make sure what I have down for tomorrow is realistic and that I know what I expect for myself.

Don’t try to work from home

In my opinion, there are far too many distractions at home, whether it be a roommate, a TV, endless snacks… It’s best to just get out of the house and find a regular spot where you can achieve your work.

Local coffee shops or libraries are great because they are quiet enough for focus, but still have a lot of life and energy inside.

I recommend setting 2-3 hours of the day to going to that spot that you can let your creative juices flow.

Make time for fun

Remember that there’s no fixed blueprint for the road to success. No one said you have to slave away 12 hours a day in order to get where you want to be.

Denying yourself from happy memories with friends and loved ones is only going to hurt your morale and make you feel like your aspirations are causing you to miss out on life. Make the best of summer and plan for the things that you want to do!

If you want to visit Italy or go to a 3 day music festival– DO IT! Just plan for it and make sure you have all your ducks in a row before setting out.
