Yesterday was one of my favorite days of the year: Valentine’s Day! Yes, it’s totally a made-up holiday that companies use as a way to get us to buy more chocolate and lingerie, BUT deep down it is rooted in L-O-V-E.
Now, I don’t agree that Valentine’s Day needs to be an elaborate production like the ones you see on Twitter. Your man still (probably) loves you even if he did not buy you a life-size teddy bear and diamond earrings.
Which brings me to my point, Valentine’s is about making your significant other, or your friends or your family feel LOVED! No grand gestures needed. Simply spending time or acknowledging you care is enough.
My BF had flowers delivered to my work.
On my day off.
Gotta love the kid (it’s actually not his fault but this is funnier).
So, what did my boyfriend and I do for V-Day? We went out to a restaurant that had awesome Bacon Mac & Cheese and we had an awesome time.
We don’t normally have time to go out during the week, so having a national holiday dedicated to doing exactly that was pretty great.
The highlight of the night was watching the look on his face when he got his gift: Two ring-side seats at Extreme Midget Wrestling.
See? You don’t have to drop big bills to Make V-Day Great Again. Just buy some cheap tickets to some really obscure and somewhat socially unacceptable sporting event – your boyfriend will thank you.
We destroyed our chocolate cake in minutes and retreated to watch 5 consecutive episodes of Forensic Files.
Work and school keeps the both of us really busy and it’s important to make time for each other, to get all dressed up and do something that celebrates the two of us!
Whatever you did for Valentine’s, I hope it was done in love ❤
