Happy New Year Babies!
I don’t know about anyone but I have been steady smiling as I reflect on the past year and think of all that is to come for the new year. This last year was great, regardless of some of the hard balls that came my way. I graduated from FAMU, got accepted to grad school, built and maintained a stronger circle of friends, loved myself harder and laughed way more than I cried. I am ready for 2017 and all it has to offer, even the difficult lessons. This year I didn’t go to hard on making any resolutions for myself. You know what was even better? I didn’t have to be cliche and “Cut” nobody off. Some things that are to the top of my list though are opening my heart and mind more, saving more money, creating more meaningful memories, save more money, adopt healthier habits in every dimension of health, Be more on time, let life take it’s course more freely and lastly grow much closer to God than I did last year.
As we journey into this new chapter, here’s some important things to hold on to:
1. Set attainable goals – It is extremely important for us to set goals as it gives us direction and adds some meaning to our day to day productivity. however, it is extremely important to be honest with yourself when setting goals. Personally, I think one of the best ways to help us manifest goals is to put together a vision board, by seeing the things we wish to accomplish for whatever time frame we have set, it motivates on a daily to go out and put in that work.
2. The new year will not make you a new “you” – The transition into a new year does not erase or reset the type of person you were the previous year. Don’t expect to go to bed on the 31st and wake up as a new person the following day. Your habits and tendencies are what makes you who you are. If you want to be a new person for the new year, consider dropping those bad habits and engaging in different behaviors.
3. Don’t get caught up in the hype – Don’t “make changes” because it’s what everyone is doing or to have something to post about. If you’re contented with yourself then so be it. If there are things about yourself that you want to change then go forth and do so but do it for yourself and nobody else.
